OSA and SPIE name top books in optics/photonics
The Optical Society of America (OSA) and SPIE – The International Society for Optical Engineering presented the first Joseph W. Goodman Book Writing Award, administered by a joint committee of the societies, in March. The biennial award is funded ($5000) by the J.W. & H.M. Goodman Foundation. The prize honors a recent outstanding book in optics and photonics.
The 2006 recipients are Harrison H. Barrett and Kyle J. Myers for Foundations of Image Science (Wiley, 2004).
Five honorable mentions were designated by the committee from among the nominated book.
